THE PEOPLE INVOLVED:\u00a0Former Prison Inmate,\u00a0Sean Walker<\/em><\/p>\n BACKGROUND:\u00a0In 1993 Sean\u00a0committed the most horrific act imaginable. He\u00a0took the life of another human being.\u00a0 Not only did he\u00a0destroy a life, the lives of the victim\u2019s family members, and the lives of his\u00a0own family members, but he\u00a0also destroyed his own. He spent\u00a021 years in prison for murder, Sean Walker was released in 2014.<\/p>\n WHAT HAPPENED: \u00a0Whilst in prison, he started to look\u00a0for answers. How could he\u00a0have allowed himself to get to the point where he\u00a0\u00a0believed it was okay to commit this crime? He\u00a0began with God.<\/p>\n He\u00a0looked for the word \u201cpeace\u201d in his\u00a0spiritual search. He\u00a0discovered that the operative word that the Hindus search for is \u201cpeace,\u201d that Jesus greeted his disciples with \u201cpeace\u201d after he was resurrected and before he ascended. Jerusalem is the \u201ccity of peace.\u201d\u00a0And not only does every Muslim greet each other with a phrase that means \u201cpeace be upon you,\u201d but the Arabic root word for Islam is \u201cpeace.\u201d<\/p>\n When he was introduced to the Peace Education Program he\u00a0realized he\u00a0was looking for peace in all the wrong areas. He\u00a0was looking everywhere but inside of himself. Prem Rawat’s teachings told him\u00a0that real peace was inside. And this is where the journey starts.<\/p>\n He\u00a0started looking inward and hasn\u2019t stopped.\u00a0After he\u00a0was released from prison,\u00a0the lessons of peace in the program were so powerful that he\u00a0wanted to share \u00a0with my brothers who were still incarcerated\u2014the ones who hadn\u2019t yet been introduced to the peace that laid dormant inside of them.<\/p>\n Today he is a facilitator of the Peace Education Program.
